In 2007, a handful of caring and committed members of the Roanoke Valley came together to start a golf tournament with the purpose of raising funds and awareness for cancer research. Their vision was to create a golf tournament unlike no other in SW Virginia and more importantly help in the fight against such an awful disease that unfortunately, affects so many.

Because of the generosity of sponsors like Advance Auto Parts, The Smith Family, Sylvania Automotive, Haley Toyota, Spencer Home Center, BB&T and BB&T Insurance, and many other local and national businesses, this tournament has grown over the past ten years and has raised over 3.5 million dollars in the fight against cancer; making it one of the largest golf tournaments for the
American Cancer Society.
The tournament has also had some of the greatest golfers in the world make a guest appearance such as: Tom Watson, Kenny Perry, Curtis Strange, Annika Sorenstam, and Paul Azinger as well as, legendary former Virginia Tech Head Football Coach, Frank Beamer, who attends every year for this fun filled day of golf and comradery.
